Lemonade

What exactly is Beyoncé premiering on HBO this weekend? It's hard to tell from this brief teaser, but it definitely looks amazing. Lemonade's trailer premiered as a surprise announcement for the special earlier this week, and not much more about it has come out since. It'll be on Saturday at 9PM ET — and even if you don't subscribe to HBO, you'll be able to watch.

The Birth of a Nation

The Birth of a Nation was the biggest talk of Sundance this year, and now that a first trailer is out, it's very easy to understand why. The film tells the story of how Nat Turner, a preacher born into slavery, came to lead a rebellion against slavery in early 1800s Virginia. This trailer makes the film look truly haunting, and it's clear why the film is going to be this year's must-see. It's out October 7th.

Jason Bourne

Jason Bourne is back, and he still seems violent and destructive in a visceral way that few other action films can match. A first full trailer for series' return came out this week, and it's simultaneously trying to jog fans' memories and reel them into Bourne's next explosive adventure. I've got a feeling this trailer accomplishes both of those quite well. It comes out on July 29th.

The Girl on the Train

The Girl on the Train is shaping up to be 2016's equivalent to Gone Girl: a dark and suspenseful thriller that's beautifully shot and adapted from a huge hit novel. A first trailer for the adaptation of Paula Hawkins' book came out this week, and it's a strong first look, showing Emily Blunt's character getting mixed up in a woman's disappearance and her ex-husband's violence. It'll be out on October 7th.

Independence Day: Resurgence

There are a lot of things happening in the new trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence, but they all add up to one thing: an unapologetic excuse for nonstop action at an epic scale. Is that something you're into? I'd guess that's a thing a lot of people are into. It's out June 24th. Oh, and Jeff Goldblum's final line in this trailer is pretty wonderful.

Warcraft

How does one movie hold all of this together? Goofy and gloomy. Colorful and dark. Live-action and CGI. I'm not totally sold on the idea that Warcraft can, but it's definitely trying with the hope of delivering something truly epic in scale. It's out on June 10th.

The Magnificent Seven

Oh look, another movie where Chris Pratt walks around knowing how exceptionally cool he is. The Magnificent Seven, as Verge news editor Colin Lecher described it to me, is a remake of a remake that was basically the Suicide Squad of the 1960s. So cool, I guess? Anyway, Westerns are great. And also this one stars an insane cast, including Denzel Washington, Peter Sarsgaard, and Ethan Hawke. It comes out on September 23rd.

The Founder

Michael Keaton plays McDonald's founder Ray Kroc in this biopic showing the fast food empire's birth. In the movie, he says this line of dialog: "Contracts are like hearts, they're made to be broken." Probably someone eats a single french fry in a dramatic fashion at some point, too. It'll be out on August 5th.

Almost Holy

This is a documentary about a badass "vigilante" priest. Like, seriously. Maybe it's just the intense music, but Almost Holy is definitely selling its subject: he's a preacher in Ukraine who apparently "forcibly [abducts] homeless drug-addicted kids from streets of his city" and brings them to a rehab center he founded. Terrence Malick executive produces. It's out on May 20th.

The Do-Over

Hold on: could this Adam Sandler movie actually be not horrible? That's kind of the surprise consensus so far. For more, be sure to check out my colleague Chris Plante's discussion of the trailer here. The Do-Over comes out on Netflix on May 27th.

Equals

So I'm super not convinced by what this trailer shows of Equals' sci-fi / dystopia / love-story plot, but I am pretty into the visuals alone. If you're a sci-fi fan, definitely take a minute to check out what this film is doing. Kristen Stewart stars. It's out on July 15th.

Lady Dynamite

Maria Bamford is coming to Netflix with a series produced by big names behind Arrested Development and South Park. If those three things aren't enough to explain to you how weird this series is going to be, well, take a look. Netflix will have 12 episodes premiering on May 20th.

The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses

Do you want to see Benedict Cumberbatch do Shakespeare? I'm just going to assume so.
